What to expect

More than a glasses prescription.

A comprehensive exam checks how you see and assesses your eye health. Your optometrist may evaluate focusing and eye coordination, eye pressure and the front and back of your eyes. The tests depend on your history and symptoms; dilation may be recommended when clinically appropriate.

Tell us about your current glasses or contact lenses, screen use, medications and any changes in vision. We will explain findings and discuss whether you need updated prescription glasses, further testing or follow-up care. Read our guide to what happens during an eye exam.

Coverage & preparation

Check your OHIP and insurance options.

Eligible children and youth aged 19 or younger generally qualify for one OHIP-covered major eye exam every 12 months. Adults 65 and older may qualify every 18 months, or every 12 months when an eligible condition applies. Adults aged 20–64 with diabetes may qualify for an exam every 12 months through a valid Ontario health card. Other eligible medical or eye conditions may also qualify.

Coverage depends on the applicable rules and timing of your last insured exam. Our team can help check eligibility before your appointment. See the OHIP coverage guide or Ontario’s current coverage information. We can submit eligible private-insurance claims to many major plans; confirm your balance with your insurer.

Bring your health card, insurance details, current glasses or contacts and a medication list. If dilation is planned or possible, bring sunglasses. Drops affect people differently: some are comfortable driving with sunglasses, while others are too light-sensitive or have blurry vision. Arrange a driver if you are unsure, and do not drive until your vision feels safe.

Common questions

Plan your visit.

Can I book a same-day exam?

Call 905-554-5557 for current availability. Sending an email request does not reserve an appointment.

Where is the clinic?

RevitalEyes Eye Care is at 72 Copper Creek Drive, Unit 104, in Boxgrove Plaza, Markham. Parking is free. Optometrist appointments are available Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; see clinic hours and directions.

Can I get glasses after my exam?
